Exhibition Description
“In Another Life” is a 35mm film photography series of everyday life across Vietnam, South Korea, and Taiwan. Created by Tina Pham, this collection shows her gravitation towards the mundane as an Asian American film photographer.
It’s in the still moments that she feels intimately connected to the native people and to her Asian roots. But, it’s also in this gaze that her American identity is apparent. How different “mundane” can look and feel across the globe. How post-war immigration pulled her away from this reality. In these photos, Tina meets a version of herself that exists under different circumstances, a discovery made by photographing 3 Asian countries over the course of 3 years.
